Mitihoon – SCG Cement and Green Solutions Business and Serendix, a Japanese startup specializing in housing by applying 3D Printing technology in construction, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance construction capabilities through 3D Printing technology, integrated with specially formulated mortar for 3D printing. The material features a smooth and beautiful texture, durability in all environments, and suitability for complex structures. The partnership also aims to promote green construction innovation in response to the growth of the modern construction industry in the Japanese market and beyond—offering solutions for modern housing by reducing carbon, labor, and increasing speed.

Mr. Surachai Nimlaor, President – SCG Cement and Green Solutions Business, stated that SCG, as a leader in sustainable cement and construction products, is committed to driving forward Green Solutions that meet the needs of quality, speed, and environmental friendliness. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Serendix marks another important step in leveraging the specially formulated mortar for 3D printing (SCG 3D Printing Mortar) to elevate construction by enabling the creation of high-quality housing that saves both time and resources—especially in Japan, a market that places strong emphasis on advanced technology and sustainability standards in the construction industry.

“This collaboration is not only about exporting high-quality building materials but also about transferring knowledge and developing in-depth technology between the two countries. SCG not only supplies quality materials but also collaborates on an engineering level with the Serendix team to co-develop mortar formulations suitable for Japanese printers and varying climate conditions.”

Serendix is a Japanese startup founded to solve housing problems through 3D Printing technology. Its prototype home has been recorded as Japan’s first 3D-Printed house, completed in just 23 hours. With a strong commitment to building fast, strong, and high-quality homes, the company chose to use SCG 3D Printing Mortar, supported by a team of SCG experts who provided technical consultation and co-developed a special formula tailored for Japanese 3D printers, environments, and climate. The material offers strength, supports complex designs, enables freeform construction with high precision, and ensures effective project management. It also addresses carbon reduction, dust reduction, waste reduction, and labor reduction—factors the company incorporates into every step to ensure the delivered materials are effective in all situations.

Currently, the 3D Printing construction market, particularly in Japan, the United States, and European countries, is expanding rapidly. While still in its early stages in Thailand, the market shows continuous growth driven by green construction development and the demand for efficient reduction of labor and material costs. SCG is considered one of the first developers of mortar for 3D Printing that can be fully produced and practically applied—meeting construction needs in all dimensions.

“This collaboration with Serendix marks a key turning point that will transform the construction industry into the era of 3D Printing housing — fast, efficient, and environmentally friendly. It aligns with SCG’s ‘Inclusive Green Growth’ approach, supporting the development of a sustainable construction ecosystem in the region, while expanding sales channels and opportunities in Japan, and paving the way to the global stage,” Mr. Surachai concluded.
