Mitihoon – On January 8, 2026, Mr. Sirimet Leepagorn, President and Acting Chief Operating Officer of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, the innovative power flagship of PTT Group, participated in an academic panel discussion alongside government agencies and distinguished experts from various sectors. The discussion was held under the theme “Nuclear Contribution for Thailand to Move Out of the Middle-Income Trap”, organized by the Nuclear Society of Thailand (NST) at the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), Bangkok. The event was presided over by Dr. Rungrueng Kitphati, Secretary General of the Office of Atoms for Peace.

During the session, GPSC presented the private sector’s perspective and readiness to develop power generation from Small Modular Reactor (SMR) nuclear power plants. SMRs are recognized for their high safety standards, stable and reliable power generation, affordability, and zero greenhouse gas emissions. GPSC emphasized that SMR technology could enhance Thailand’s attractiveness as an investment destination for Industry 4.0, by providing access to clean and stable energy. This, in turn, would help foster new S-Curve industries, supporting Thailand’s transition out of the middle-income trap in a sustainable manner.
