
Mitihoon – SCB X Public Company Limited (SCBX), a leading financial technology group in Thailand, announced further progress in its strategic collaboration with KakaoBank, South Korea’s largest digital bank, and WeBank Technology Services, a leading global digital banking technology provider. Building on their ongoing cooperation, the three organizations have formally embarked on a tri-party collaboration to leverage their respective strengths. The parties are fully committed to gear up for the launch of an upcoming virtual bank in the Thai market.
This latest phase of collaboration reflects a shared ambition to enhance efficiency in financial services, expand accessible finance, and drive better financial services through digital innovation. By combining complementary strengths, the three organizations aim to develop customer-centric digital financial solutions that address the evolving needs of Thai consumers, with particular focus on individuals and small business owners. The virtual bank’s mission is to simply finance and help customers toward achieving their life goals.
This virtual bank will be developed through close partnership among SCBX, KakaoBank and WeBank Technology Services. SCBX contributes its deep understanding of Thailand’s financial ecosystems, customer behaviors and large-scale financial operations. KakaoBank brings proven experiences in operating a leading mobile-first digital bank, with expertise in product innovations, user experience design, and customer-centric service delivery. WeBank Technology Services supports the initiative with advanced digital banking technologies, scalable infrastructure, and artificial intelligence capabilities developed through servicing hundreds of millions of users globally.
A key design principle of this virtual bank is the integration of artificial intelligence from the outset. By embedding AI into core processes, product design, and customer interactions, the platform aspires to become an AI-native bank to deliver highly personalized digital experiences, improve service efficiency, and support data-driven decision-making. This approach is intended to enable high-performance digital banking while maintaining strong focus on inclusion and accessibility.
