Mitihoon – GPSC, in collaboration with its partners, has announced the successful commencement of commercial operations for the expansion of the Nava Nakorn Electricity Generating Company Limited (NNEG) power plant. The expansion adds 28.75 MW of electricity generation capacity and 8 tons per hour of steam production, bringing the total installed capacity to 207.75 MW and total steam capacity to 48 tons per hour. This milestone enhances the project’s ability to meet rising energy demand from the industrial sector, as well as the rapid growth of data center businesses. The development aligns with GPSC’s strategy to expand its investment portfolio both domestically and internationally.
Mr. Worawat Pitayasiri, Chief Executive Officer of GPSC, the innovative power flagship of the PTT Group, stated that the NNEG project is a joint venture among three partners: GPSC holds a 30% stake, Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Company Limited holds 40%, and Nava Nakorn Public Company Limited holds 30%. The expansion project is scheduled for its commercial operations on April 1, 2026. This expansion marks a significant step in the continuous development, strengthening energy security and efficiency within the Nava Nakorn Industrial Zone in Pathum Thani Province. It also ensures readiness to support future growth in demand from data centers.
The project’s success reflects the strong collaboration among the three partners, who have jointly driven its development and achieved commercial operation as planned. The NNEG power plant continues capacity expansions, starting with an initial generation capacity of 125 MW and steam production of 30 tons per hour in 2016 which supplies 90 MW of electricity to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) under a 25-year Firm SPP contract and added an additional 54 MW and 10 tons per hour of steam in 2020. The latest expansion further increased capacity by 28.75 MW and 8 tons per hour of steam in 2026.
This latest expansion underscores GPSC’s growth strategy to strengthen its power and steam business portfolio through strategic partnerships and to support increasing energy demand from the industrial sector together with contributing to sustainable economic growth in Thailand.
