Network engineering teams are stepping up monitoring of base stations supporting communications across 11 at-risk provinces: Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Suphan Buri, Lop Buri, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan, as well as Bangkok. True’s network engineers are monitoring water conditions and potential network risks around the clock, with teams and equipment ready to respond as conditions evolve, enabling people to stay connected, access essential information and coordinate assistance.
At the same time, the Khlong Chan Housing Community continues to face prolonged flooding that is significantly affecting the daily lives of residents. True Corporation is continuing to support communications in the area with care for those impacted, sending network engineering teams through deep floodwaters and using flat-bottom boats to transport generators and essential equipment to support base stations within the community. The operation strengthens network capacity for residents, government officials and agencies carrying out relief operations in the area.
True Corporation has continuously managed network operations in the area. As part of electrical safety measures implemented by the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), electricity supply has been temporarily suspended at certain locations to protect the safety of people in the community. True increased signal support from nearby base stations, enabling residents to remain connected as usual, while further strengthening network readiness by bringing generators into the community to provide power to local base stations. This increases network capacity to support communications as the flooding continues to require close monitoring.
True Engineers Navigate Deep Floodwaters to Power Base Stations and Strengthen 24/7 Communications Readiness
For this operation, True engineering teams loaded generators and essential spare equipment onto flat-bottom boats and navigated floodwaters that reached chest level in some locations. The equipment was then carried into the residential buildings and installed to provide power to rooftop base stations, further strengthening network readiness and capacity to support increased usage in the area. This includes voice calls and data usage, staying in contact with family members, accessing the latest situation updates, requesting assistance, and supporting the work of officials operating in the community.
Behind True’s network operations during the flooding, the company is using AI-powered Predictive Analytics to assess potential network impacts in advance. In scenarios where prolonged power outages are anticipated, the system can estimate which base stations may be affected and when, as well as analyze potential changes in signal coverage and network capacity. These insights enable True to prioritize the dispatch of engineering teams, backup power systems and equipment to individual locations, minimizing potential disruption to customers as much as possible.
At the same time, engineers and teams at the Business Network Intelligence Center (BNIC) use AI to analyze and connect data from base stations across the network, providing centralized 24-hour monitoring of network conditions. When an anomaly or a potential risk identified by the system is detected, BNIC coordinates with field engineering teams to respond quickly, enabling network operations to adapt continuously as conditions evolve.
For field readiness, True has prepared generators, fuel supplies, batteries, backup power systems for base stations and spare network equipment, along with Cell-On-Wheel (COW) mobile base stations, flat-bottom boats and four-wheel-drive vehicles. These resources enable engineering teams to access flooded areas and strengthen network readiness as conditions require. Priority is given to Critical Cell Sites serving hospitals, airports, command centers, public relief centers and other critical infrastructure, with coordination in place with the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), and other relevant agencies.
Supporting Flood-Affected Communities with Care
Beyond its network operations, True Corporation is also extending support to residents affected by flooding in the Khlong Chan Housing Community, delivering drinking water and essential supplies to provide immediate assistance to people who remain in the community.
True continues to monitor and support communications in other flood-affected areas, including the Rom Klao Housing Community in Lat Krabang District, where engineering teams are overseeing network operations and a Cell-On-Wheel (COW) mobile base station has been sent to strengthen connectivity for residents and support coordination among officials and agencies providing assistance.
As the flood situation continues to require close monitoring, True Corporation remains on 24-hour network watch, with engineering teams and equipment ready to be dispatched to affected areas as needed, ensuring that communications continue to serve as a vital link connecting people with their families, essential information and assistance during the crisis.
