BCP Group Wins Second Runner-Up Award in the Environmental Category at the National Innovation Awards 2026 for Smart Circular UCO Ecosystem for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Production

Mitihoon – On 2 October 2026, Bangchak Group, represented by Mr. Jirapat Yaovatsakul, Vice President, Frontier Technology & Bangchak Initiative and Innovation Center (BiiC), received the second runner-up award in the Environmental Category for large and medium enterprises at the National Innovation Awards 2026 for its project, “Smart Circular UCO Ecosystem for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Production.” The award was presented by Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, at the ceremony organized by the National Innovation Agency (NIA) at Dusit Thani Bangkok.

The award-winning innovation reflects Bangchak Group’s commitment to driving the energy transition and advancing the circular economy through innovation. The company has developed a Smart Circular System that connects households and communities to an integrated used cooking oil (UCO) collection and management network through ucollect Box, a mobile application, a cloud-based backend platform, and an AI-powered transportation planning system, creating a fully connected digital ecosystem.

More than simply improving the collection and management of used cooking oil, the innovation establishes a standardized infrastructure for UCO collection, storage, traceability, and transportation planning—from the point of collection through to its conversion into Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). This integrated system enhances operational transparency and efficiency while providing a scalable infrastructure that can be expanded nationwide.

During the commercial pilot phase from March to June 2026, the innovation collected a total of 10,129 kilograms of UCO from six collection points while reducing logistics costs by up to 26%. The solution also made it easier for the public to participate in transforming waste into a valuable resource. These results demonstrate the potential of Thai innovation to elevate and establish standardized national infrastructure for used cooking oil collection and management, supporting the production of SAF, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and strengthening Thailand’s long-term energy security.

Receiving the National Innovation Award marks another significant milestone for Bangchak Group and reinforces its commitment to developing innovative solutions in collaboration with partners across all sectors. The company will continue advancing clean energy infrastructure, promoting the circular economy, strengthening Thailand’s energy security, and contributing to the country’s transition toward a low-carbon society.

Bangchak Corporation also extends its congratulations to the Faculty of Fisheries at Kasetsart University on receiving the second runner-up award in the public sector and nonprofit organization category at the National Innovation Awards 2026 for “Map to Survive: From Data to Decision – Selecting Sites for Successful Seagrass Planting.” Bangchak is one of the organizations supporting seagrass cultivation and planting to conserve seagrass habitats and bring research knowledge and innovation into practical use.
