Mitihoon – CoolConnext and AMATA U embark on joint-study for a District Cooling System to boost energy efficiency for future industries
Mr. Wuttichai Chanapiyangkoon, Chairman, CoolConnext Company Limited (CoolConnext), together with Mr. Poh Tiong Keng and Mr. Perapol Umpaivit, Directors of CoolConnext, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mr. Chawalit Tippawanich, Chief Executive Officer of AMATA U Company Limited, to study the feasibility of developing a District Cooling System (DCS) in AMATA City Chonburi. Mr. Vikrom Kromadit, Honorary Chairman of AMATA U Company Limited and Chief Executive Officer of AMATA Corporation Public Company Limited, and Mr. Jaruwat Singsomdee, Deputy Chief Project Development Officer of AMATA U Company Limited, were present to witness the signing ceremony.
The collaboration will study the development of DCS, in which chilled water is produced at a central plant and distributed to end-use areas. The DCS is intended to improve energy efficiency, reduce duplication of cooling systems, and create opportunities to lower operating costs. The study will also examine how existing reservoirs could be utilised to meet rising cooling demand from various industries and future data centers. The project is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of AMATA City Chonburi and help attract investment. Efficiency and cost outcomes will depend on the results of the feasibility study and the project development model. The initiative forms part of the effort to upgrade energy infrastructure to support the sustainable growth of Thailand’s industries.
CoolConnext Co., Ltd. is a joint venture between Getz Energy Co., Ltd. (Getz), a wholly owned subsidiary of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited (GPSC), and Keppel Ltd.’s Infrastructure Division.
