Mitihoon – Three teams of young people have won the 2026 UOB Wonder Lab challenges after developing proposals to help businesses communicate their sustainability priorities and make them more relevant to their audiences.
Team Just The Case won the DHL Express challenge, Team Krai Sen won the DKSH challenge and Team Catalyst-five won the Häfele Thailand challenge.
Organised by UOB Thailand, the programme connects young people with companies to work on real business briefs. In its second year, it focused on communication: how to make environmental and social issues easier to understand, encourage participation and connect with people’s everyday decisions.
Participants worked with industry mentors to understand audience needs and consumer behaviour, then refine their proposals within the constraints of each business. The process gave them experience of responding to feedback and explaining the thinking behind their ideas.
Ms Dhornratana Olanhankij, Country Function Head of Brand, Media and Communications, UOB Thailand, said “Young people need opportunities to test their ideas with people who understand what it takes to make them work. Through Wonder Lab, UOB brings them into those conversations, giving them experience and support they can carry into their working lives.
Businesses have something to learn too. Listening to how a younger generation sees an issue can help them question their assumptions and find more relevant ways to engage their audiences.”
Feedback collected for the programme pointed to gains in knowledge and practical skills. Among respondents, 94.5 per cent reported a deeper understanding of sustainable marketing, while 92.7 per cent reported stronger marketing knowledge and skills. All respondents also reported improvements in presentation, structured thinking and idea development.
Mr Chavakorn Srisangatrakul (“Korn”), representing Team Just The Case, highlighted the opportunity to learn from industry experts, said “It helped us gain a deeper understanding of both sustainability and business operations, while developing skills that we can apply in the future.”
Ms Voravalun Siribhogananda (“Kungten”), representing Team Krai Sen, credited the mentors and company representatives for helping improve the team’s proposal, said, “Their guidance enabled us to refine our ideas and turn them into more practical and achievable solutions.”
Ms Nuengtida Rueangjarern ( Maki ), representing Team Catalyst-five, said: “We approached the challenge from the customer’s perspective, asking how sustainable products can become a more attractive choice without cost becoming a barrier. Sustainability needs to work for both people and businesses.”
The second edition of UOB Wonder Lab attracted applications from 171 teams comprising 688 young people across Thailand. Fifteen teams were selected for the Impact Academy, with nine progressing to the Final Pitch.
