The 5.1 km Fun Run begins and ends at Central Samui, with runners taking on a scenic route along Chaweng Road and the renowned Chaweng South Beach, famed for its powdery white sands. Participants will enjoy the thrill of running across mixed terrains—from road to soft sand—requiring strength, flexibility, and focus. The route offers a challenging yet unforgettable experience, set against the island’s vibrant atmosphere and breathtaking coastal views. Dr. Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, Chief Marketing Officer of Central Pattana, said “The Samui Neon Run has become a signature sport event that Central Samui organizes annually in collaboration with provincial authorities and strategic partners. This year marks the 4th consecutive edition, continuing its mission to elevate Samui as a top sport tourism destination. The 2025 run will be held on May 3 and builds on the success of previous years, where the event welcomed over 1,500 runners in 2024—a 50% increase from 2023. Participants were equally split between Thai and international runners, with the top five foreign nationalities being France, the UK, Russia, Germany, and Australia. Top Thai participants hailed from Bangkok, Khon Kaen, Loei, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Nonthaburi. “We aim to surpass 3,000 runners in 2025, aligning with Surat Thani Province’s strategy to develop as a Sport City and to improve community well-being while generating economic, social, and tourism value.
This initiative also supports the government’s ‘Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025’ campaign, which emphasizes sports and wellness tourism as key drivers of sustainable growth. Koh Samui is a key strategic area in the Southern Gulf of Thailand with global appeal. Koh Samui continues to thrive as a key travel route for Bangkok Airways, with forward bookings from March to September 2025 showing a 14% increase—highlighting strong confidence from both domestic and international travelers. Additionally, Bangkok Airways is preparing to resume its Samui–Kuala Lumpur route with one daily flight in Q4/2025 to better accommodate European travelers connecting via Kuala Lumpur, opening more opportunities to attract quality runners and visitors to the island.
The challenging nature of the run, especially the segment along Chaweng Beach’s soft sand, adds a unique element to the event. Unlike standard road races, running on sand requires additional effort, muscle control, and mental focus—making it a fun yet demanding adventure for fitness enthusiasts.
