National ITMX Company Limited officially launched the “Hack to the Max Season 2: Shaping the Next Evolution of Financial Innovation” project at a press conference held at Next Tech, Siam Paragon. This premier digital financial innovation hackathon aims to elevate the competition to a new level. The initiative brings together key private sector partners including Bank of Ayudhya, ExpresSo NB, and Techsauce, as well as five leading universities— King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Thammasat University, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University and Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University. —to build a collaborative learning ecosystem that fosters innovation among Thai youth.
The Hack to the Max project is being held for the second consecutive year, with the goal of providing a platform for university students and the public to fully showcase their potential in financial technology. Applications are open from May 19 to June 30, 2025. The primary target groups include students, developers, creatives, and individuals interested in digital financial infrastructure technology. There are no educational qualifications required, but applicants must be between 18 and 25 years old.

We hope this Hackathon will serve as the starting point for connecting talented young individuals with national-level missions. We want to see bold ideas that challenge traditional financial systems and leverage technology to create new solutions. Most importantly, we aim to build a learning and innovation ecosystem that grows alongside Thai youth—an ecosystem that allows them to clearly see which skills, knowledge, and mindsets are in demand in the market. And not just understand them, but put them into practice, with support from both academic institutions and the industry sector.
We believe this ecosystem will serve as a nurturing ground for innovation from upstream to downstream and will become a bridge connecting young people’s dreams with real, tangible opportunities. For the Hackathon 2025: Hack to the Max – Season 2, this year’s competition features two challenging problem statements under the theme “Building a Trusted Payment Ecosystem”, addressing real-world needs within Thailand’s financial industry. These are:
Challenge 1: Next-gen Payment Solutions for Financial Future
Revolutionize the future of Thai payments by co-creating innovative payment solutions that will redefine the landscape of digital transactions in Thailand. This challenge encourages participants to think beyond the limitations of current technology and transform traditional financial systems into seamless, fast, secure, and user-centric payment experiences, truly meeting the needs of today’s digital consumers.
Challenge 2: Secured Payment Solutions
Enhance security and build trust in Thailand’s financial system. In this challenge, participants are tasked with presenting innovative security solutions that elevate the reliability of the financial ecosystem. These may include high-performance fraud detection and prevention systems, advanced risk alert and response mechanisms, or collaborative platforms between organizations to protect consumers from emerging financial threats.
All applicants will be shortlisted to the top 15 teams with the most outstanding ideas, who will then present their work during the Pitching Day event, scheduled for September 6-7, 2025. Teams selected will have a golden opportunity to work closely with leading experts from National ITMX and top industry partners throughout the project, to develop their ideas into innovative prototypes ready for real-world implementation in Thailand’s financial industry.
The grand prize-winning team will receive a special opportunity to participate in the Singapore Fintech Festival, which will take place from November 11-14, 2025, in Singapore. This is a premier global financial innovation event, and the prize includes full support for travel, accommodation, and all related expenses. The winning teams from each challenge (2 prizes) will receive a cash reward of 10,000 THB each. Additionally, teams with outstanding ideas from each challenge (2 prizes) will receive 5,000 THB each as a motivation to further develop their innovation prototypes for real application.
