Mitihoon – Buriram – June 6, 2025 – As household debt becomes a national crisis, Thai Credit Bank Public Company Limited recognizes that sustainable solutions must begin with instilling financial literacy in youth. With this in mind, the bank has launched its first “Tang To Know-how Young Ambassador” youth camp, in collaboration with Mechai Pattana School in Buriram Province, an educational institution founded by Mr. Mechai Viravaidya, a pioneer in community development and family planning in Thailand. The school serves as a model for education emphasizing life skills development and sustainable community leadership, with an educational philosophy aimed at developing youth to become change leaders in communities and society.

The 2-day 1-night youth camp, held on May 29-30, 2025, transformed ordinary classrooms into vibrant learning spaces. Eighty students from grades 7-11 were divided into 9 groups to work closely together. Coming from a school that emphasizes not only classroom education but also experiential learning through the “Learning by Doing” concept, participants underwent specially designed Active Learning processes combining practical workshops, financial simulation games, and professional presentation training.

What impressed was the youngsters’ full potential on display. Not only did everyone pass the financial knowledge assessment, but they also developed knowledge transfer plans. All 10 groups set clear goals to expand to 16 communities in Buriram Province, with determination to disseminate knowledge both in schools and surrounding communities, aligning with Mechai Pattana School’s educational philosophy of developing youth to become change leaders in communities and society.

This youth camp builds upon the success of the ongoing “Tang To Know-how” project, through which Thai Credit Bank has been creating a robust network of financial literacy trainers nationwide. These trainers serve as important forces in transmitting knowledge about intelligent financial management across all regions, instilling financial discipline and sufficiency principles deeply into Thai society.

To date, the “Tang To Know-how” project has successfully created 692 model financial trainers through its effective Train the Trainer curriculum, including 319 branch managers from Thai Credit Bank Public Company Limited’s microfinance division, 32 personnel from the Community Financial Organization and Capital Development Office under the Community Development Department, Ministry of Interior, 168 representatives from 8 savings groups for production schools, 68 members of savings groups for production, 33 graduates from the master trainer course at the Community Development College under the Community Development Department, 34 representatives from the Community Development Department Savings Cooperative, and 38 community development officers from Phitsanulok Province. This has created a financial knowledge network covering the entire country.

“Building a financially resilient society is a long-term mission that requires solid foundations,” said Mr. Winyou Chaiyawan, Vice Chairman and Member of the Corporate Governance and Sustainability Development Committee of Thai Credit Bank Public Company Limited. “Our collaboration with Meechai Pattana School, which has a vision for developing youth with life skills and community leadership, gives us confidence that these young people will be key to creating sustainable change, as they become leaders in transferring knowledge to families, friends, and communities. This expansion of our financial trainer network to youth is like sowing seeds of knowledge that will grow and branch out, creating long-term sustainable results.”

The project’s success isn’t measured by camp completion alone. Thai Credit Bank has established a 3-month continuous monitoring system with expert mentors providing consultation and creating online networks for youth experience sharing. The 10 groups will operate in 16 target communities, to transfer knowledge to at least 30 community members per community. This is expected to create financial literacy dissemination to over 480 people in various Buriram communities within 3 months.

The “Tang To Know-how Young Ambassador” project is not merely a general CSR activity but a strategic investment in the country’s future, aligning with the philosophy “Everyone Matters” and reinforcing Thai Credit Bank’s vision to be a financial institution dedicated to sustainably improving Thai people’s quality of life through building a society with proper knowledge, understanding, and skills in financial management.
