Mitihoon – SCGJWD Logistics Public Company Limited (SJWD) has initiated a strategy to increase the potential of its freight business after the restructuring and the spin-off of a business unit to become “SCGJWD Freight” at the end of last year. Since then, the Company has transformed this business from being simply a freight service provider into a fully integrated international import-export service provider through digital solutions, thus becoming clearly distinct from other operators. At the same time, the Company has also expanded the new business group – “Digital Business for Export and Import” – after becoming the first international import-export service provider in Thailand to be registered as the “National Single Window Service Provider (NSP)”, or the service provider with integrated electronic data link for imports and exports with the Customs Department. Furthermore, SJWD has set the goal to increase its 2024-2029 revenue by more than 70 percent from 1,500 million baht to 2,500 million baht.

Mr. Bunn Kasemsup, Co-Chief Executive Officer of SCGJWD Logistics Public Company Limited (SJWD), the largest integrated logistics and supply chain service provider in the ASEAN, revealed that the Company has initiated a strategy to enhance the potential of the freight business and upgrade its services to be distinctive compared to other operators in the market. At the end of last year, the Company restructured and spun off the freight business to operate as “SCGJWD Freight Company Limited” with the goal to expand  the freight forwarding business, both sea freight and air freight, in Thailand and the ASEAN region, ultimately to transform the business from simply a freight service provider or an international freight forwarder into an integrated international import-export service provider through digital solutions.

This business transformation of SCGJWD Freight has been envisioned as a crucial strategy to drive the business in the next 3-5 years, based on the previous two main core business groups: (1) Freight Business Group, comprising sea freight and air freight forwarding services for SCG customers and general customers. The current customer base can be calculated as 150,000 TEUs of container freight and 1.2 million tons of bulk cargo per year; (2) Non-Freight Business Group, comprising customs formalities and documentation services for export and import of goods, documentation services related to various government agencies, etc. As well as most recently, a new business group has been established – “Digital Business for Export and Import Group” – to provide digital services for exports and imports with the aim to become a New S-Curve due to the business unit’s high growth potential.

The expansion of the new business group was the result of the recognition of the opportunities for the Company, and the exporting and importing industries that require digital data transmission services to process customs procedures through the National Single Window (NSW) system with large annual quantities of electronic data linkages to government and private sector agencies in regard to exports and imports. The total market value for this business stream was estimated at more than 3.3 billion baht last year and is expected to continue to expand as the process can tremendously help to increase convenience, speed, and to lower the costs compared to the manual submission of hard-copy documents.

Most recently, SCGJWD Freight has passed the qualification certification as required for electronic data connection with the NSW system and has been registered as an NSW Service Provider (NSP), by the National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT), making it the first logistics service provider in Thailand to receive qualification certification and registration as an NSP after considerable investment in developing an electronic data connection system between the government and private sectors.

SCGJWD Freight started providing electronic data transmission services for customs procedures on April 1, 2025, with Phase 1 providing services to customers within the SCG Group by receiving data from the customers via the platform and linking the data to National Telecom Plc. who then forwarded this to the Customs Department. The Customs Department then transmitted the goods receipt data back to the Company’s platform to be dispatched to the customers in real time. Phase 2 will expand the electronic data transmission services for Customs procedures to general customers. The services will include electronic data transmission services to other government agencies related to exporting and importing goods.

The goal of this business transformation strategy is to drive up SCGJWD Freight’s revenue target for 2024-2029 by approximately 70 percent from 1,500 million baht to 2,500 million baht. In 2024, the proportion of revenue was 70 percent derived from the Freight Business Group and 30 percent from Non-Freight Group. It is expected that within the next 3-5 years, the proportion of revenue will be 50 percent from the Freight Business Group, 40 percent from Non-Freight Group, and 10 percent from Digital Business for Export and Import Group. A plan is also in place to further expand the Non-Freight Business Group and Digital Business for Export and Import Group to improve the proportion of profit margins even further. Also significant is the goal set for SCGJWD Freight to become a leader in the provision of integrated international import-export services through digital solutions.
