Mitihoon – 30 June 2025, Bangkok, Thailand – Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC), Thailand’s leading integrated lifestyle real estate group, signed a long-term Green Loan agreement worth THB 7,904 million (equivalent to USD 208 million) with Krungthai Bank. This strategic partnership, built on a shared sustainability vision, aims to support Thailand’s position as a global leader in sustainable destination development. The Green Loan will be used for the development of the ultra-luxury flagship project, Hotel Plaza Athénée Nobu New York. This project is part of AWC’s growth strategy, which also includes The Hotel Plaza Athénée Nobu Bangkok, reinforcing the company’s commitment to delivering world-class, sustainable experiences in two iconic global cities—New York and Bangkok.
The ‘Hotel Plaza Athénée Nobu New York’ project is being developed within a historic building over a century old, located in the heart of Manhattan’s prestigious Upper East Side—one of the most sought-after addresses in New York City and a global hub of culture, luxury, and lifestyle. This distinctive investment in a prime freehold asset is designed to create long-term sustainable value and will be developed in line with international green building standards. The project is structured under the AWC Growth Fund—AWC’s financial strategy that enables project development without requiring full upfront investment and without creating immediate financial burden. This provides the flexibility to acquire full ownership at the optimal time. Full acquisition upon project completion allows for immediate revenue recognition, generates positive cash flow, and enhances financial flexibility—reinforcing the company’s strong financial discipline, evidenced by the most robust financial structure in the sector.
Mr. Suratun Kongton, Chief Wholesale Banking Officer at Krungthai Bank, stated, “Krungthai is committed to responsible business practices aligned with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. We integrate the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 13 on climate action, into both our business capabilities and positive impact creation. This Green Loan for AWC will support the transformation of the Hotel Plaza Athénée Nobu New York, one of the city’s most iconic hotels, into a green building certified under the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standard or other global green building standards. We believe this project will serve as a model for ESG-integrated luxury real estate. Our partnership reflects the shared commitment of both organizations to serious and ongoing sustainability goals, reinforcing Krungthai Bank’s role as a sustainable financial partner that supports customers in balancing economic, social, and environmental growth—true to our vision of ‘Growing Together for Sustainability.’”
Mrs. Wallapa Traisorat, Chief Executive Officer and President of Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC), stated, “AWC would like to express our sincere appreciation to Krungthai Bank for their trust and support in this ultra-luxury flagship project, ‘Hotel Plaza Athénée Nobu New York.’ This collaboration bridges Thailand’s tourism potential to global stage and strengthens our role in sustainable destination development. The Green Loan also supports AWC’s strategy through the AWC Growth Fund model that enables sustainable growth and strong financial structure.”
“The “Hotel Plaza Athénée Nobu New York” is a collaboration between AWC and Nobu Hospitality, combining the iconic Plaza Athénée brand with Nobu’s luxury service expertise to create a one-of-a-kind lifestyle destination with global standards. Located in a 100-year-old freehold building in Manhattan’s Upper East Side—near Central Park and luxury shopping hubs—the project targets to achieve certified LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) or other international green building certification, aligning with AWC’s ‘Better Planet’ sustainability framework. It will be developed in parallel with “The Hotel Plaza Athénée Nobu Bangkok,” seamlessly connecting the ultra-luxury experience between New York and Bangkok, with openings scheduled next year.”
Developing projects to international sustainability standards is a core part of AWC’s approach to delivering long-term value. Recently, the InterContinental Chiang Mai The Mae Ping Hotel became the first hotel in Thailand to be awarded LEED Gold Certification v4 BD+C: Hospitality, reflecting a truly eco-conscious design and operation. Meanwhile, INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit has received EDGE certification (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) from International Financial Corporation (IFC), a member of World Bank, highlighting its resource-efficient design. Several other AWC assets are also currently in the process of obtaining LEED and other green building certifications, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainable development across its portfolio.
AWC continues to drive sustainability in every aspect of its operations. The company’s leadership and team are proud that AWC has been ranked No. 1 in the world in the Hotels, Resorts & Cruise Lines sector by S&P Global for sustainability performance, and is a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for Emerging Markets and the FTSE4Good Index Series. In addition, AWC has received an AA rating on the SET ESG Ratings for 2024 by the Stock Exchange of Thailand—a testament to the company’s strong commitment to delivering long-term holistic value to all stakeholders.
“This collaboration with Krungthai Bank reflects our mutual sustainability vision and creates long-term value through world-class developments that integrate sustainability across all dimensions. It represents the power of partnership in positioning Thailand as one of the global leaders in sustainable destinations and in ‘Building Better Future for All’ to deliver sustainable, holistic value.” Mrs. Wallapa concluded.
