Mitihoon – Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group appointed Mr. Tawatchai Sumranwanich as President, succeeding Dr. Jiraporn Sirikum, who will retire and conclude her employment contract as President. The appointment will be effective on 1 October 2025, in accordance with the Board of Directors’ resolution at its meeting No.8/2025 held on 22 August 2025.
Mr. Tawatchai Sumranwanich currently holds the position of Deputy Governor – Strategy at the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and also serves as EGAT’s official spokesperson. He possesses profound expertise and experience in the power industry, particularly in power system planning, plus energy innovation and smart technology, as well as long-standing proficiency in business strategy development. These credentials have well-prepared him to assume the role of President. In addition, since August 2025, he was also appointed as a Director and a Member of the Investment Committee of EGCO Group, equipping him with an understanding of the company’s business direction. This will enable him to further drive EGCO Group’s continuous and sustainable growth.
Mr. Thawatchai Sumranwanich will continue to drive EGCO Group’s business operations in line with the “Triple P” strategy, which focuses on strengthening three key areas including Profitability and Performance Energizing by continuously increasing revenue and profit generation capabilities. Secondly, Power and Energy-related Focus, EGCO Group will prioritize investments in the core power business. This will include natural gas-fired power plants, which are crucial for energy security during the energy transition, as well as renewable energy plants to achieve the company’s low-carbon goals. This will be pursued through both mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and greenfield investments. The strategy also involves seeking energy-related business opportunities. Key markets will be those where EGCO Group already operates, particularly the United States, while domestic projects will also continue to progress. Thirdly, Portfolio and People Management with a particular focus on the company’s portfolio optimization through asset recycling policy and comprehensive organizational transformation to support sustainable future growth.
Mr. Tawatchai is 52 years old. He holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, the United States, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. He has also completed various high-level executive training programs from leading institutes in Thailand and overseas, including the Director Certification Program (DCP), the ESG Leadership Program, and the Executive Program in Energy Science and Technology.
