Visa and Omise Partner to Advance Payment Security with Network Token Solution for Thai Merchants

Mitihoon – Bangkok, Thailand, January 30, 2026 – Visa, a world leader in digital payments, and Omise, a leading payment gateway in Southeast Asia, today announced a strategic partnership to bring Visa’s Network Token solution to merchants across Thailand. The collaboration aims to strengthen payment security and support smoother, more reliable digital commerce experiences for Thai consumers.

Why Tokenisation Matters: Securing the Digital Economy

In today’s rapidly growing digital ecosystem, merchants face two major challenges that directly impact their bottom line: fraud and payment failures.

Visa’s Network Token technology helps address these pain points by replacing sensitive card data with a unique, encrypted digital identifier — a “token”.

  • The Problem: Traditional online payments (Card-Not-Present) on static card details that can be exposed in data breaches, increasing the risk of fraud and chargebacks.
  • The Solution: Tokenisation replaces sensitive card details with a secure token, and each transaction can be protected with a unique cryptogram. This reduces the value of stolen payment data and helps limit misuse outside the intended context (such as a specific merchant or channel).

By combining Visa’s global tokenisation capabilities with Omise’s scalable payment infrastructure, the partnership supports Thailand’s growing need for secure, seamless digital payments.

Benefits for Merchants: Security, Revenue, and Customer Trust

Merchants using Visa and Omise’s tokenisation technology can benefit from improved security and stronger payment performance, including:

  • Significant Fraud Reduction:  were reduced by more than half (58%)[1]; results vary by merchant and market.
  • Higher Approval Rates: Visa reports tokenised transactions can improve authorisation performance (often around ~4%[2] uplift in some contexts), helping reduce false declines; results vary.
  • Recurring Revenue Continuity: The solution can help enable smoother customer experience by automatically updating expired or reissued card details, reducing payment failures for subscriptions and recurring billing.
  • Proven Global Impact: Visa reports tokenised payments have generated more than US$40 billion[3] in incremental e-commerce revenue globally and helped save US$650 million[4] in fraud in the last year.

Choenporn Sawasdivorn, Head of Client, Visa Thailand, said “Visa is committed to supporting Thailand’s digital economy with secure, trusted payment innovation. By partnering with Omise to expand access to Visa Network Tokens, we are not just reducing fraud and unnecessary declines, we are laying the foundation for a safer, more resilient digital commerce ecosystem. This initiative empowers Thai merchants to deliver seamless, future-ready experiences for their customers, especially as recurring and card-on-file payments become the norm. Our vision is to enable every business to grow with confidence in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.”

Kanaise Luenthaisong, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Omise, added “Payments are no longer just transactions. They have become a foundation for new business models. By integrating Visa Network Tokens, we help Thai merchants build commerce that is secure by design, reducing card data exposure, increasing approval rates, and ensuring payments continue seamlessly when cards change. This partnership lays the groundwork for future-ready payment experiences, from one-click checkout to scalable subscriptions, so businesses can innovate faster and grow with confidence.”

Real-World Impact: Leading Brands See Value with Network Token Solution

Highlighting the real-world value of this technology, leading brands in Thailand such as Coway and TrueMoney have already adopted the Network Token solution through Omise.

Coway affirmed the value of the collaboration, citing key performance improvements and the impact on its subscription-based business model. Kiryong Choi, Chief Executive Officer at Coway Thailand, said “Security and trust are core to our promise to customers. Since adopting Visa’s Network Token through Omise, we have experienced fewer payment disruptions and stronger reliability across our digital payment channels, especially for recurring services like our water purifier subscriptions. Network tokenisation has helped reduce failure rates and contributed to an 8.5% increase in transaction volume, enabling us to deliver a smoother, more consistent experience for our customers”

TrueMoney also emphasised the benefits of enhanced security for its digital wallet users. “Innovation and security are critical for our digital wallet users. Visa’s Network Token solution integrated via Omise helps strengthen transaction protection while supporting a frictionless experience. As Thailand’s digital commerce continues to accelerate, tokenisation is becoming foundational to safer, smoother online payments helping reduce exposure of sensitive card data and supporting more reliable checkout experiences. Through this partnership, Visa and Omise aim to make network tokenisation more accessible for Thai merchants, enabling secure growth and stronger customer trust across digital channels.
