Mitihoon – CP AXTRA Public Company Limited, the operator of makro – Lotus’s wholesale and retail businesses, continues to drive its sustainability strategy in a tangible and impactful manner, aligned with both national and global goals. Most recently, the company delivered school uniforms made from recycled plastic bottles under its “ลดทิ้ง สร้างค่า AXTRA Zero Waste” program, turn waste into value initiative to 10,000 students from 100 schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) nationwide.
The initiative underscores CP AXTRA commitment to advancing the circular economy, while creating social value through expanded access to education and fostering environmental awareness among young people contributing to long-term, positive change for society and the environment.
The “AXTRA Zero Waste” initiative serves as a key mechanism through which CP AXTRA continuously works toward its goals of Zero Waste to Landfill by 2030 and Net Zero emissions by 2050. The program emphasizes systematic waste segregation and recycling through three core approaches: the establishment of plastic bottle Drop Points, the installation of Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) at more than 149 makro and Lotus’s locations nationwide, and the organization of Recycle Markets every weekend at 11 makro–Lotus’s branches.
Over the past year, CP AXTRA successfully collected more than 2.2 million plastic bottles and processed them through certified recycling systems, transforming the materials into recycled school uniforms. To date, over 10,000 students from OBEC-affiliated schools nationwide have benefited from the program.
This initiative reflects CP AXTRA participatory approach to responsible resource management engaging customers, employees, and communities in reducing waste and creating value from discarded materials while reinforcing the company’s role in driving sustainability from the organizational level to society at large and contributing to a more resilient environmental future on an ongoing basis.
