Mitihoon – Orbix Technology and KCLIMATE 1.5, which are companies within KASIKORN FINANCIAL CONGLOMERATE, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Pi Carbon to jointly develop integrated climate solutions aimed at enhancing customers’ capabilities and promoting the creation of a comprehensive carbon ecosystem. The collaboration integrates blockchain technology as the digital infrastructure for carbon footprint calculation and data storage, leveraging its strengths in data accuracy and traceability to enhance transparency in carbon data management and strengthen capabilities in carbon management and data exchange, while advancing green finance towards international standards.
Mr. Pisith Kulkanchanachewin, Managing Director of Orbix Technology, said Enhancing environmental data standards requires an effective strategic infrastructure. Blockchain is a key enabler in building a fully transparent and traceable data storage and exchange system. Combined with deep expertise and carbon footprint technologies from our specialist partners, this collaboration will help drive innovations that effectively address the real-world needs of the business sector.
Mr. Theeradej Tunpaiboon, Director KCLIMATE 1.5, said that embarking on a sustainable net-zero journey begins with accurate and reliable carbon footprint calculation. Presently, carbon footprint reporting – particularly at the product level (Carbon Footprint Product: CFP) is no longer optional, but an urgent necessity amid increasing pressure from emerging regulations, both domestic, such as Thailand’s Climate Change Act, and international measures including CBAM and CSRD, which directly affect the competitiveness of Thai businesses in the global market.
KCLIMATE 1.5 builds upon more than 10 years of greenhouse gas management expertise developed within KBank, extending it into comprehensive climate solutions. We do not merely calculate figures. We act as strategic advisors, helping organizations develop greenhouse gas management plans covering Scope 1 and 2 through to the more complex Scope 3 emissions. This collaboration integrates KCLIMATE 1.5’s advisory solutions with blockchain technology, transforming traditional reporting into an interconnected data ecosystem that enables businesses to manage risks and create new opportunities in the low-carbon economy in a tangible way.
Mr. Paphon Mangkhalathanakun, Founder and Co-CEO of Pi Carbon, added Pi Carbon is committed to developing calculation and tracking systems for the Carbon Footpriynt of Product (CFP) tailored for corporate-level use. We plan to integrate our system with Orbix Technology’s Quarix blockchain to enable carbon data to be stored, verified, and utilized with maximum efficiency. Furthermore, we are developing a data storage system and a Carbon Invoice feature to enhance the accuracy and completeness of carbon footprint reporting, while also supporting efficient and end-to-end data connectivity across platforms.
The mission of this collaboration is to build upon the combined strengths of all three partner organizations to jointly develop advanced environmental data innovations and implement carbon data infrastructure, which serves as a vital foundation for driving Thailand towards a sustainable low-carbon economy. In addition, the project will strictly adhere to data governance principles under the supervision of relevant regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with regulations and financial institution standards prior to the rollout of future services.
