Mitihoon – Mr. Sirimet Leepagorn, President and Acting Chief Operating Officer of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited (GPSC), the innovative power flagship of PTT Group, alongside executive management, welcomed Mr. Akanat Promphan, Minister of Energy, during his official site visit to monitor the integrated solid waste management system and the progress of the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) production project under the Rayong Provincial Administrative Organization at the Rayong Integrated Solid Waste Management Center.
GPSC, in collaboration with the Rayong Provincial Administrative Organization, manages 500 tons of municipal waste per day through a waste sorting process to produce Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF). This fuel is supplied to a 9.8-megawatt RDF power plant, serving as a vital mechanism in converting municipal waste into useful energy while mitigating environmental impacts. This initiative helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 60,000 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year. Furthermore, GPSC’s RDF waste processing facility and RDF power plant serve as study-visit sites for local administrative bodies and government agencies, functioning as a prototype model for integrated waste management.
Systematic waste management and converting waste into fuel represent a strategic partnership between the public sector, local government organizations, and the private sector to elevate waste management standards, enhance energy security, and drive Rayong Province toward a low-carbon society and sustainable development.
