Mitihoon – 6 June 2025, Bangkok, Thailand – Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC), Thailand’s leading integrated lifestyle real estate group, in partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, is proud to announce the development of Kimpton Bangkok Chinatown, a new luxury hotel that will become a cultural and lifestyle icon in the heart of Bangkok’s historic Yaowaraj district, which is located within Woeng Nakornkasem Yaowaraj, the company’s largest landmark mixed-use project situated in the heart of Chinatown, one of Bangkok’s most historic districts. The hotel will combine vibrant Chinese-Thai heritage with Kimpton’s bold and playful design DNA, creating a destination that is as unique as its surroundings. Located along the Ong Ang Canal—part of a BMA-led initiative to promote waterway tourism—the hotel is the highlight of the AWC River Journey Project linking the canal to the Chao Phraya River. The development reflects AWC’s long-term commitment to value creation under its Growth-Led Strategy, while supporting Thailand’s sustainable tourism goals and strengthening the country’s position as a leading sustainable tourism destination.
Mrs. Wallapa Traisorat, Chief Executive Officer and President of Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC), stated, “Our long-standing partnership with IHG continues to flourish following the development of InterContinental Bangkok Chinatown. Kimpton Bangkok Chinatown marks another significant step forward in our shared vision. This iconic hotel also represents an exciting milestone in our journey toward sustainable tourism and destination development. It will be a celebration of culture, creativity, and community, combining Kimpton’s world-class hospitality with the vibrant energy of Yaowaraj. As part of AWC’s Lifestyle Destination model, the project will not only preserve the historical significance of the area but also introduce a new dimension of experience-led tourism to Bangkok, contributing to Thailand’s long-term sustainable tourism.”
Mr. Rajit Sukumaran, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, East Asia & Pacific, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said, “We are delighted to expand our successful partnership with AWC with the signing of Kimpton Bangkok Chinatown. This exciting new hotel will combine Kimpton’s bold design, warm intuitive service, and transformative experiences with the unique cultural identity of Bangkok’s most historic neighborhood. Together with AWC, we look forward to delivering meaningful and thoughtfully curated experiences that resonates with modern travelers and celebrates the essence of Yaowaraj. When combined with InterContinental Bangkok Chinatown, also under the IHG portfolio, this new addition will further elevate the prominence of the development and reinforce Yaowaraj as a distinctive cultural destination.”
Woeng Nakornkasem Yaowaraj is AWC’s flagship mixed-use heritage revitalization project, designed to breathe new life into Bangkok’s Chinatown while preserving its architectural and cultural charm. Kimpton Bangkok Chinatown will be the second luxury & lifestyle hotel in this historic neighborhood operated under IHG, one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, setting a new benchmark for urban heritage hospitality in Thailand. The hotel is currently under construction, with basement works underway and restoration of heritage buildings in progress. Full operations are expected to begin by the end of 2029.
Set across more than 20,000 square meters, Kimpton Bangkok Chinatown will offer 154 rooms and suites, including all exclusive suites located in restored heritage buildings along the Ong Ang Canal. Designed with both comfort and character in mind, the hotel will also feature a Sky Lobby offering panoramic views of the new Chinese pavilion and Yaowaraj skyline, along with state-of-the-art conference facilities, a fully equipped gym, and a rooftop swimming pool and pool bar with views stretching toward Charoen Krung and the Chao Phraya River.
Three distinctive restaurants will introduce a curated selection of food and beverage experiences, paying homage to the neighborhood’s rich culinary roots while offering globally inspired menus. In line with Kimpton’s inclusive spirit, the hotel will also be pet-friendly, with dedicated areas for furry companions in both guest rooms and common areas.
The hotel’s design concept draws from three central themes of the project – including “Rebirth of Nakhon Kasem,” “Chinois-Siam,” and “Center of Festivals” – that reflect AWC’s vision of honoring tradition while inviting innovation. These concepts blend Thai-Chinese architectural heritage with vibrant modern interiors, transforming the property into a canvas of cultural expression. The result is a destination that will feel both rooted in history and refreshingly contemporary.
Kimpton Bangkok Chinatown marks the fourth Kimpton hotel under AWC’s growing portfolio. It will sit alongside the future InterContinental Bangkok Chinatown, together creating a compelling luxury cluster that supports AWC’s goal of strengthening Thailand’s tourism competitiveness by attracting high-value visitors to culturally significant urban neighborhoods.
“This project embodies our belief that the future of hospitality lies in experiences that are not only luxurious but also deeply meaningful,” added Mrs. Wallapa. “By connecting the past with the present, Kimpton Bangkok Chinatown will deliver something truly memorable for travelers from around the world, while reinforcing AWC’s commitment to building sustainable, culturally rich destinations that create long-term value for communities, partners, and Thailand’s tourism industry.”
