Mitihoon – Precious Shipping Public Company Limited, the owner of the vessel M.V. Mayuree Naree, issued a statement on 12 March 2026 providing an update on the incident involving the vessel.
The company expressed deep concern regarding the incident and confirmed that it has acted with urgency, to provide assistance to all crew members as quickly as possible.
Twenty Thai crew members have been safely brought ashore with assistance from the Royal Navy of Oman. The crew were rescued to land and are now safe. The company has arranged temporary accommodation for the rescued crew. The company is currently coordinating with the Royal Thai Embassy in Muscat, Oman, to facilitate their safe return to Thailand as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, three crew members remain missing and search and rescue operations are ongoing. These efforts are being supported by Thailand’s Marine Department, the Royal Thai Navy,
and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand as a coordinator to agencies of the Government of Oman, as well as the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) and other relevant international authorities. Rescue teams from the Omani Navy continue their efforts tirelessly to locate the three missing crew members.
PSL further clarified that prior to and during the voyage, the vessel Mayuree Naree strictly implemented enhanced security measures and fully complied with all applicable maritime security advisories and all relevant reporting requirements. Throughout the period, the vessel maintained regular communication with UKMTO, the Royal Thai Navy, and other relevant maritime security coordination centres.
Prior to the vessel’s departure from the Persian Gulf, the Company conducted a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with professional maritime security advisers, its insurers and other relevant stakeholders. Based on the information and maritime security advisories available at that time, the vessel was assessed as suitable to undertake the transit with appropriate precautionary measures in place. The vessel’s officers and crew were informed of the prevailing security situation in the region and the passage.
In light of these considerations, and in the absence of any specific warning advising the vessel not to proceed with the passage, the Company determined that proceeding with the transit through the Strait of Hormuz with enhanced security precautions was the appropriate course of action at that time.
The company also expressed its gratitude to relevant parties for their continued support and assistance. It reaffirmed that its highest priority remains the safe recovery of the three missing crew members, while ensuring the welfare of the 20 rescued crew members and their safe return to Thailand as soon as practicable. The management and employees of the company extend their deepest concern and support to the crew members and their families during this difficult time. The company will in tandem continue to make efforts to locate the vessel and provide the necessary support.
