มิติหุ้น – Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) has reaffirmed its leadership role in supporting sustainable hospitality by announcing the successful allocation of THB 17,575 billion in green financing to seven hotel groups for the development of nine new hotel projects. Each project is designed to meet international Green Building Certification standards, positioning them as “Green Hotels” and serving as models for environmental sustainability across Thailand’s hospitality sector. This initiative aligns with Thailand’s ambition to become a global sustainable tourism destination and achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Mr. Kris Chantanotoke, Chief Executive Officer of SCB, stated: “Despite challenges from global and domestic economic uncertainties and intense competition among Asian countries to attract international tourists, Thailand’s tourism and hotel industry remains a vital driver of economic growth. Thai hoteliers have demonstrated resilience by targeting quality-driven tourism markets and embracing sustainable practices. SCB is committed to supporting hoteliers nationwide in accelerating their journey toward greater environmental sustainability. We are proud to support seven hotel groups in developing nine new projects that will be certified under international green building standards such as EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). These projects exemplify the industry’s commitment to reducing environmental impact while enhancing Thailand’s appeal as a world-class destination.”

The nine hotels, developed by seven leading hotel groups including B&G Group, Benchasiri Park Property, Jee Teng Hospitality, The Platinum Group, Proud Group, Beachfront Hideaway and Boutique Corporation, will serve as benchmarks for strong commitment to transitioning toward eco-friendly hospitality. Mr. Kris emphasized that staying in eco-friendly hotels is no longer just a short-term trend, but a necessity driven by sustainability policies of major hotel chains, online travel agencies (OTAs), and upcoming EU sustainability requirements effective in 2028. This shift positions sustainable hotels as a new competitive advantage for Thailand’s tourism industry and supports long-term economic growth while contributing to the nation’s net-zero target by 2050.

SCB plays a significant role in supporting Thailand’s hospitality industry and currently holds a substantial loan portfolio in the sector, with total loans exceeding THB 135 billion. The bank continues to collaborate closely with clients to facilitate the transition toward eco-friendly hospitality, offering flexible financial solutions such as sustainability-linked loans, green financing, and efficiency-enhancing credit facilities tailored to hotel businesses. These efforts have significantly accelerated the industry’s move toward environmentally friendly operations nationwide.
