Mitihoon – GULF Continues ‘GULF Care’ Mission with THB 1 Million in Recovery Supplies, Helping Bangkok Communities Rebuild After Flooding
As floodwaters begin to recede across several areas of Bangkok, Gulf Development Public Company Limited (GULF) continues its “GULF Care” initiative, extending support to affected communities as they begin the recovery process and restore their homes following the floods. As part of the ongoing relief effort, GULF provided cleaning supplies, other essential items, as well as common household medicines worth a total of THB 1 million to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) for distribution to flood-affected residents. Mr. Sitamon Ratanavadi, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, GULF, represented the company in the handover, while Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, received the donation at the Department of Drainage and Sewerage, Bangkok City Hall 2 (Din Daeng).
Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, said, “Although the flood situation in many parts of Bangkok is beginning to ease, overall water levels remain close to capacity and the situation remains fragile, particularly in the eastern part of the city, where accumulated water is still present and more continues to flow in. Bangkok can normally absorb around 60–70 millimeters of rainfall. However, water levels in the retention areas and canals are still high, so heavy rain of that magnitude could cause water to overflow and flood the streets faster than usual.”
“In many areas where floodwaters have receded, our key mission is to speed up recovery. We are mobilizing manpower and machinery from unaffected districts to support the hardest-hit areas so that we can restore the city quickly. This includes collecting garbage, cleaning, repairing roads, and providing health care for residents in every affected area, so that everyone can return to normal life as soon as possible. I would like to thank all sectors that have come forward to support this relief effort.”
Mr. Sitamon Ratanavadi, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, Gulf Development Public Company Limited, said, “Throughout the recent flooding in Bangkok, GULF has closely monitored the situation and continuously extended support to affected communities through the ‘GULF Care’ initiative. GULF Volunteers or ‘GULF Asa’, comprising employees from our head office and power plants across the group, joined forces to prepare 650 relief kits and 6,000 bottles of drinking water. We also provided 16,000 freshly prepared meals to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration for distribution to affected communities across the city.”
“As floodwaters begin to recede, the post-flood recovery period is another critical time when people still need support, particularly with cleaning their homes and taking care of their health. For this reason, GULF has prepared cleaning supplies and other essential items, including common household medicines, comprising laundry detergent, floor brushes, cleaning cloths, garbage bags, rubber gloves, mosquito repellent lotion, skin treatment medication, paracetamol, anti-diarrheal medicine, oral rehydration salts, and rubbing alcohol, totaling more than 30,000 items valued at THB 1 million. These will be delivered through the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to residents in affected areas. We sincerely hope this assistance will help ease the burden on affected families and enable every household to return to normal life as soon as possible. GULF remains committed to standing alongside Thai people and sharing our care in every situation.”
In addition to the relief kits, drinking water, and freshly prepared meals provided to support flood-affected communities in Bangkok, GULF has distributed more than 15,000 additional relief kits to assist people affected by flooding across 16 provinces in four regions of Thailand.
GULF remains committed to advancing its ‘GULF Care’ mission, helping alleviate hardship and restore the quality of life of communities affected by natural disasters. The company will continue to coordinate closely with relevant authorities and organizations to ensure that assistance reaches affected communities appropriately and in a timely manner.
